Books for Gay Teens

•November 4, 2006 • Leave a Comment

In another of my browsing spurs I came across this list of great books for Gay Teens. While I haven’t read any of the books listed, a few of them sound very interesting and have made it onto my to-read list (which gets ever longer by the day).

Feast of Fools

Feast of Fools is an interesting podcast. I found it earlier today via the QueensSpeech Blog and downloaded the two latest episodes (from Thursday and Friday) to listen to. I’ve already finished the first of the two and am working my way through the second. So far I think it’s fairly ok, it’s entertaining to listen to but I’m still not sure if I’m going to keep it for long, I’ll listen to a few more shows before deciding. None the less, it’s something that is worth checking out.

The Conrad Boys

The Conrad Boys looks like a very good movie. I stumbled across the trailer on YouTube earlier today and it really caught my attention and I furthur delved into it. I really want to see the movie, but it looks like I’d have to buy it, so we’ll see.

Coming Out Day Video

•October 12, 2006 • Leave a Comment

I would have posted this last night in my coming out day post, but it seems to have slipped my mind. This is a video by the Human Rights Campaign with their Talk About It theme for this year’s Coming Out Day. This is the mini blurb that they give on it:

Want to see how Steven Spielberg, Bill Clinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ellen DeGeneres, Janet Jackson and other leaders and celebrities Talk About It? Watch this video in honor of National Coming Out Day.

So, without any further ado, here it is.

National Coming Out Day

•October 11, 2006 • Leave a Comment

Well, today was National Coming Out Day in the United States (and possibly elsewhere). I had lots of fun with my friends today (funny story, we all thought yesterday was Coming Out Day and so we celebrated then, only to find out that we can party two days in a row because today was the real day). Unfortunately no one I know came out today, in fact, I don’t think anyone at my school did, then again, I don’t blame them too much because I know how hard it is to open up.

Anyway on a somewhat related note I got an Ally Week packet in the mail today. I actually wasn’t expecting it at all, but since I’m a member of GLSEN I guess they just send ‘em out, not that I’m complaining, I’ll be taking full advantage of it next week, and even a little bit this week in preparation for it.

Gay Social Networks

•October 11, 2006 • Leave a Comment

I found this wonderful post about Gay Social Networks today on Techcrunch. The post itself is pretty neutral, no negative feelings, in fact there are a few positive dashes in it. I don’t think I’ll be signing up for any of the networks anytime soon (I’m not too into the whole social network thing, other than MySpace, mainly because of friends, but I am keeping my eye on QueensSpeech.com), but I think the coverage is great nonetheless.

Gay Merchandise

Yes, I’ve been browsing merchandise sites again. This time around though it’s all from CafePress, while most of it is from the Gay Apparel store, the Coming Out Day 06 shirt is from the Silence is Loud store, a shirt that I’m debating whether I should buy it in the next day or so so that I’ll have it come tuesday, or if I should make my own shirt to wear (using Iron-On transfers of course)

Bumper Stickers
100% Proud. Are you?
Gay Mafia
Straight? Fine by me.
Donning my gay apparel

Rectangular Stickers
1138 Rights Denied

T-Shirts
Coming Out Day 06
Day of Silence 06

Homosexuality is a Sin?

I’m not gonna argue this one, this video on YouTube does it well enough. (Found through QueensSpeech Blog).

P.S. in case you haven’t noticed, I found out how to embed YouTube vids in posts now.

Day of Silence T-Shirts

•September 23, 2006 • Leave a Comment

I was looking around the Day of Silence website (linked in the new blogroll) and I found the t-shirts page. I have to say I love the shirt and I really want one, unfortunately you have to order them in bulk, and it’s a little expensive, so maybe I’ll see if the Gay/Straight Alliance at my school would be interested in getting them … Anyway I suggest you take a look at them, they’re awesome.
